Our Cross-Mission in Two Continents continues…

Our life has indeed settled into routine – we are happy to tell you that Mr. Boyle aka Henry is doing well. He is a very determined fellow – making us a little concerned at times with what he tries to do, so soon after his heart attack.

We have been relieved of the opening and closing of church and gates – Fellowship Hall, garbage duty, etc. Setting the alarms in the house and church remain our obligation. All has been calm in that front.

However, the dogs have certainly given our life new direction… Rex has been infested with ‘ticks’, I mean thousands! Following the flea/tick treatments and baths (plus the spraying of yard) that Jack administered – he had hundreds at a time drop off of his body filled with blood! Little Fluffy wasn’t as badly infected but, she was very thin causing the SPCA to question whether she could be neutered but, they did do so on Tuesday along with Rex. That was another adventure – these dogs have not ever walked on a leash through the streets, let alone the Bourda Market! Well… we did make it with Jack wearing a leather glove to protect his hand from the chain. Fluffy will go back to them before we leave (with some fattening up) where they will hopefully place her in a new home. Henry can only manage one dog. We continue to feed two young cats and the tanagers continue to love those bananas I loop onto the pole each day.

Our work never ceases to take a few twists and turns – we are presently representing the Eastern Synod of the ELCIC – which is the Companion Synod with the church here in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guyana (ELCG). Jack served in 5 churches in the ES before his retirement into World Mission (Cameroon and then Guyana).

Our other life in West Africa – Cameroon… we continue to be involved via e-mail, Facebook – Skype – Telephone. Jack remains as CSP Chairperson
Our main interest is within the Orphan Program sponsored by our Manitoba/North West Ontario (MNO) Synod, ELCIC, in which we are the Companion Synod (CSP) to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cameroon (ELCC).
The Orphan Program now called ‘Kids Helping Kids’ has given us much joy and fulfillment. We want to share some photos of these children with you.

Our work with Cameroon, West Africa and Guyana, South America will always be near and dear to us. May God continue to give us the fortitude to continue in 'The Way'.We are eagerly awaiting our son Glenn and grandson Kyle’s arrival next Friday evening. Are we happy and excited?

By the way.... we are now legally in country until May 30th of 2010.
